These sounds are vibrant with life and they delight with naturalness. They are real and uncompromising. They bring the rhythm of the earth and the will to fight by partying and dancing. Although Buraka Som Sistema is a project set up in Portugal, its sounds come from Angola. It’s an explosive mixture of African rhythms, Portuguese melodies, massive bass and some elements of house and techno. In 2006 they recorded EP ‘From Buraka to the World’ and a year later they gripped the audience of Glastonbury and Roskilde stages. In 2008 they released the album ‘Black Diamond’ featuring M.I.A. and Virus Syndicate. Now they’re working on the next album and the first track which promotes it is a cheerful ‘Hangover’.
