jazz on the shipwreck

11th of July 2009 (Saturday)

Such show for the first time ever

Jazz on the shipwreckThe Gralak and  Makaruk’s jazz concert on the concrete shipwreck “Ulrich Finsterwalder” is a strictly cultural and innovative project covering the promotion and cultural policy of the Pomerania Euroregion. It is also the activity to support the idea of Szczecin European Art Capital 2016 and to show its cross-border location. The project is also important for the Polish-German dialogue- it takes place in a symbolic place for both of the nations. The presence of the Germans and the Polish in this unique event, in the beautiful scenery of the Dabie Lake is going to be like a step forward in breaking the old barriers and building partnership of the nations according to the rule “cultura pro bono”. The integrational aim of the project will be achieved thanks to quite unusual methods-German and Polish ships.

With the mixed crews and mixed crowds will be traveling for approximately 4 hours. During the cruise Polish and German djs will be spinning the finest selection of sounds. The international communication tools this day will be passion for music and sailing. The concert will be one of the events of the Odra Days 2009.

About the shipwreck

'Ulrich Finsterwalder' is the only one concrete shipwreck which is located in Poland. Its hull is situated on the Dabie Lake, next to Inoujscie. So far, despite of the attempts, the wreck has not been used as the tourist attraction. The Boogie Brain association is trying to change it using the art for it. The ship makes a huge contrast with its green, picturesque surrounding being also a symbol of the war activity in the past. According to the policy “Floating Garden 2050”, integration of the city and the water, the concert fulfils its idea perfectly.
