London is an undisputed music centre of the Globe. The metropolis generating a creative upheaval and inspiring in a big way next generations of musicians. The city which stands for cradle of urban music phenomenon, where drum’n’bass, 2step, garage, dubstep flourished and gave way to new unordinary urban music mutations. The main feature of Boogie Brain Festival is London based
Ms Dynamite – a singer, MC, R&B vocalist, a style icon, double
Brit Awards prize winner and triple
MOBO finalist. A dynamite woman, freely getting around urban music and at the same time flirting with mainstream.
She represents a very off-handed approach to her career. Raised in a house full of music by her loving roots reggae mum - a teacher and native Jamaican dad, she was the oldest one of eleven siblings. When she was admitted to her ideal university – social anthropology at Sussex University, it came out she was more attracted by clubs. She performed live as MC and soon earned recognition as one of the best UK garage female vocalists. At that time, in West End club, she was discovered by
DJ Sticky. She started her own radio show on pirate radio, tv show about black music and then she released her first single
'Booo!'.
The storm struck in 2002 after the release of her debut album
'A Little Deeper' promoted by
'It takes more'. The Brits were stunned and praises heaped on the album, which led Ms Dynamite to the top.
Three years later she returned with
'Judgement Days' album and a stunning live performance at
Live 8 in London where she sang Bob Marley’s 'Redemption Song'.
She exposes her vocal strengths a few months ago in
Zinc’s
'Wile Out' track, a club banger present in every bag of a self-respecting DJ.
